Ryken Football

9/12/2017 1:55:58 PM

Ryken is 3-0. They beat Dunbar 45-0, Pallotti 27-6 and Mt. St. Joseph 30-28.

Good Counsel lost to MSJ by 2 touchdowns.

I think Ryken can compete with the big boys this year now that Brady is coaching there. Did he bring in a bunch of recruits? Or is GC just terrible this season?

Glad that SMR is making progress, but let's not get ahead of ourselves here.  Palotti lost to Oxon Hill, a good team but by no means tier 1. Dunbar is not the Dunbar folks would like to remember. Mt. St. Joseph solid win.

All that being said there is a reason they are playing an independent schedule and not competing in league football this year and will be in the second tier when the league goes to two divisions next year.

Give it some time.

I think they could compete with GC this year. How else would you explain the MSJ game?

SMR is solid. You know the QB play is gonna be good along with a good running game. Both are Brady staples and thats what I saw in the MSJ game. You can BS with SMR if you want too and think youre just gonna walk in and steal a win and get film for your young guys, they gonna beat you.

Officially it is:

The Capital Division will be composed of Bishop McNamara, DeMatha, Gonzaga, Our Lady of Good Counsel, and St. John’s.

The Metro Division will include Archbishop Carroll, Bishop Ireton, Bishop O’Connell, Paul VI, and St. Mary’s Ryken.

With the exception of McNamara right now, I would say it is a two tier league in 2018-2019.

No disrespect to anyone, IMHO.

Based on what Ive watched SMR belongs in the capital division. Might as well as give them that Metro title now!

I think GC loses to DeMatha, SJC, Gonzaga and McNamara this year.

Dunbar lost 32-0 to Bell. Not sure what's going on with Dunbar but that's not a good sign.

Depends who you consider the Big 4 right now. I'm not sure Good Counsel is in it. It's really a Big 3 until GC has a legit win.

Bell has been a solid DC Stripes program since the split.
